Sleep in Kuala Lumpur:
WOLO Bukit Bintang

Nestled within the area close to other big, internationally chained hotels, WOLO Bukit Bintang almost seems incomparable in terms of luxury and all that glitter. However, WOLO Bukit Bintang stands out strikingly as a boutique, modern and trendy hotel with its dazzling glass building and entrance.

Overview

Located in the heart of Bukit Bintang (Kuala Lumpur’s main shopping and entertainment district), WOLO Bukit Bintang is right opposite LOT 10 and minutes walk away from some of the other big shopping malls such as Sungei Wang Plaza and Pavilion, making the hotel an ideal (and affordable) stay for a short shopping/eating trip in Kuala Lumpur.

The interior of the hotel is stylish. Really stylish. It’s generally dim everywhere in the hotel with bursts of lights and quirky decor and furniture placed around the hotel. Also, upbeat music (those that are usually played during fashion shows or stylish lounges) are also played throughout the hotel and even from the entrance of the hotel, making guests feel like celebrities walking on red carpets as they enter the hotel.

Of course, being situated right next to a busy intersection, it’s hard to rid traffic sounds completely but otherwise, the hotel does a pretty good job in giving guests the privacy and silence they need throughout their stay here. The hallways are dim and covered with dark curtains and cushioned floorings and you’ll hardly see any other guests around the hotel (except during breakfast or in the lifts).

Our Room

We stayed in “Our Room”, a minimally designed and compact 22-25m2 room that uses its very limited space cleverly. The beds are neatly arranged on a raised platform and placed right in front as you enter the door so there’s no extra space wastage on walkways and whatnot. Despite that, there’s still plenty of areas to sit and walk around. There’s also a wide mirror placed above the beds, which helps to create an illusion of a bigger space. There’s also an adjustable TV mounted on the wall, working desk and coffee/tea making facilities all tucked away in a little corner.

The bathroom is also nicely designed with dark marbles, tiles, wall cushions and has ample of standing shower space. The provided amenities are aplenty with personalised and WOLO-branded packaging design along with quirky descriptions, making them really cute stealable souvenirs from the hotel.

Tous Les Jous // Main Cafe Area

Tous Les Jous is a popular bakery franchise from South Korea with a selection of French-Asian dessert and food. To date, there are several branches in Kuala Lumpur alone and one of them is located right within WOLO Bukit Bintang hotel itself. With that, the Tous Les Jours cafe (or half of it) transforms itself into the daily buffet breakfast for WOLO’s guests.

While the breakfast selection is not entirely the largest, guests do get cereals, freshly cooked eggs from a live station with a chef and also a small selection of the delicious pastries by Tous Les Jours! I, for one, can’t remember how many of their croissants I’ve had throughout my stay.

Other Facilities

WOLO Bukit Bintang also has a “workout room”… or so they call it, which seems a bit weird since it’s really just several gym machines placed in an open hallway of Level 3 (which I think is also a guests floor). But I mean, maybe that’s an open-concept gym that I’m just not used to yet.

For guests who are interested, the hotel also houses a wine & cigar room which seems to be pretty quiet and empty but could be an interesting experience!

The Vibe

Since WOLO Bukit Bintang has rooms catering to singles, couples and even families, the hotel attracts guests of all kinds. However, it’s not an all-inclusive hotel with everything you want and more. Although, it’s definitely a hotel for everything you really need for a short stay in Kuala Lumpur. Fuss-free, sufficient and simplistic yet trendy and (really) stylish is how I’ll describe WOLO.
